Local Settings Folder

The system folder Local Settings (always the last in the object tree on the Control Panel) contains parameter settings that are used to run the client interface (used fonts, grid formats), specifications for e-mail profiles or fulltext plug-ins (defined for the local machine).

The specified settings are stored in the registry or in the 602sql.ini text file.

Fonts

Fonts will be used in various places on the client interface and can be defined as follows:

The font can be selected in when you double-click the font preview.

Grid Data Format

Various users may have different demands on displaying and inserting data in the grid. Different data formats are used mainly for numbers with decimals and date/time values. The specified formats are not only used in grids, but wherever it is needed (e.g. dialogs that require a date entry).

These settings are not related to the data formats in SQL (fixed by the standard), text data formats after export (set separately for each transfer) or with XML data formats.

If none of the prepared masks suits you, you may create your own mask by entering text directly into the combo box. the following rules apply: D means day, M means month, Y means year and C means century. Doubling the value (e.g. MM) is translated as leading zeros. H means hours, M minutes, S seconds and F thousand of seconds (only for TIME), others are considered separators.

Locale and Language

You may choose the language support for running the 602SQL Client. This does not apply to the database (that was chosen when the database was created and cannot be changed), strings in data (chosen in the table definition for each string column) or for the server window and log entries (chosen in the Database management window). This setting only applies to the client executed on the local computer.

Your operating system must support the selected language (the locales of the selected language). Otherwise, English will be used, and the program will report an error Message catalog not loaded with further details when trying to change the language.

Fulltext plug-ins

If you want 602SQL to index binary documents like DOC, XLS, etc. 602SQL must know how to extract individual words from these documents. External programs called fulltext plug-ins serve this purpose. Convertors for individual formats are chosen here, or you can select the OpenOffice.org engine. More details can be found on the page Fulltext plug-ins.

Both the converters for client and server are specified here.

Mail Profiles

602SQL Server allows you to work with e-mail (send and receive electronic mail). The parameters of the mail connection are stored in profiles that can be controlled from area. Profiles are not stored in the database, but on the disk of the computer that requests e-mail. If the 602SQL Server works with e-mail, it must be on the same computer the 602SQL Server is running. If the client program works with e-mail, the profile must be on the client computer. Edit the profiles on the local computer using the commands from this section. More information about e-mail profiles and usage can be found on the page E-mail profiles.

Communication to Server

You may specify some parameters for communication between the 602SQL client interface and the 602SQL server. For more information look on the page Communication parameters.

External Editors

You can select external editors for easier editing of stylesheet objects.
